Scorpions to breakup, after worldtour 2010.-
German hard rock legends Scorpions are calling it a day. The band's last album Sting In The Tail will be out on March 19th 2010, with a world tour following the release. The official word from the band reads as follows:
"It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was - and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: we want to end the Scorpion's extraordinary career on a high note.
We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we've always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.
We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years! We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you, available here. And now... let's get the party started and get ready for a Sting in the Tail. See you on the world tour."

Former Broken Hope Vocalist commits suicide.-

Former Broken Hope Vocalist Joe Ptacek Commits SuicideJoe Ptacek, best known for his work as the lead singer of death metal outfit Broken Hope, sadly passed away on Wednesday from what appears to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head. He was only thirty seven years old. A message from his former bandmate Jeremy Wagner reads as follows:

"It's with profound sadness and shock that [I report that] my friend and former bandmate — Joe Ptacek — has died.

"Joe was my high-school friend who formed a death-metal band with me called Broken Hope. We always dreamed of putting out albums and touring the world. After graduating, we achieved a lot of those dreams and released five albums, performed worldwide, appeared in countless international magazines and did a video for MTV. We were on Metal Blade Records and met all of our heroes and performed everywhere…

"Not bad for two teenagers out of Wildwood, Illinois.

"After 2000, Joe and I lost touch until just a few years ago. In recent months, we reconnected, hung out and became friends again. I just chatted with him after the New Year as he and I had found a drummer and a rehearsal spot where we were to begin working to bring back a new, resurrected form of Broken Hope.

"As of late, Joe was positive, healthy and had a mature and humble attitude that made me happy to see.

"I'm thankful to have known him in my lifetime and to have traveled many a mile and share many a stage with such an original character. Moreover, I'm thankful to have hugged him and to have made him smile the last time we were together. Why he chose to take his life, I'll never even begin to fathom, but I pray he's in a better place.

"So, to all of you extreme metal heads out there, I ask you to raise a toast in memory of Joe Ptacek, the absolute, hands down MOST BRUTAL DEATH-METAL VOCALIST EVER!

"Joe, I love you and I will miss you, brother…

"Your friend (who you affectionately called, Peck)."

After Death - Two Members Drown In Brazil
Courtesy of the BBC.-
Two members of the UK metalcore outfit After Death drowned yesterday (Thursday January 21) while swimming at the Atalaia beach in Aracaju, in the northeastern part of Brazil. 21-year-old guitarist Leon Villalba and 18-year-old bassist Timothy Kennelly, along with their bandmates, were in the middle of an extensive tour of Brazil as the support act for Master when the incident occurred.
Villalba and Kennelly were reportedly swimming at the beach around 2:30 pm when another beachgoer noticed a floating body and alerted the local lifeguard rescue team. An attempt was made to resuscitate Villalba using CPR, but he didn't respond. Kennedy's body is still missing. The search for Timothy's remains will continue on Friday with air support, since the area to be covered is very wide.
Atalaia is considered to be the fourth most dangerous beach in Brazil, even though it's one of the most popular in Aracaju, the capital of Sergipe, which is the smallest Brazilian state by area.
In spite of the tragedy, which is being investigated by the homicide division of the Department of Public Safety, the 17 remaining dates of the "Masters of Hate Tour 2010" will take place as scheduled. The surviving After Death members have stated that they are "all in mourning and still shocked by everything that happened," but that they "are sure that [Leon and Timothy] would want the shows to go on. We'll complete the tour in their honor," they are quoted as saying by the local media.

Killem (Spain)

Born in 2001 with a sound firmly based on the roots of classic Thrash Metal, Killem has been a band in constant evolution, always adding new influences coming from other styles like progressive or death metal in order to develop their own personal sound.
During its existence, the band has been able to share the stage with international acts like Sepultura, Obituary, Pestilence, Hatesphere, Napalm Death, Textures, Unexpect, Moonsorrow and Tankard among others; and also with Spanish metal giants like Saratoga, Avulsed, Ktulu, Warcry and Lujuria.
Their discography includes the critically acclaimed demo Void, that opened the gates for the band’s first full length record, MUTED, released by Dark Rails Records. Following the release of MUTED, the band appeared in interviews, reviews and sampler CDs on the Spanish editions of Kerrang! and Metal Hammer among others.

After a long process of writing and evolution, Killem has just recorded its second album, REFLECTIONS OF DECLINE, at portuguese Ultrasound Studios with famed producer Daniel Cardoso. This new effort brings the band's sound to a new level, focusing on the more aggresive and progressive elements but maintaining the thrash roots that defined their previous record. The band is currently looking for a label to release this new album, while touring around Spain and Portugal. The wait is over!!! After a few months of hard work, Reflections Of Decline, Killem's second studio album, is a reality. 9 tracks of progressive/aggressive madness that show a critical evolution on the band's sound.

Delirium (Honduras)

Delirium was founded in 1990 under the name of Delirium Tremens, making his debut at the famous San Miguel concert where the band played covers of Metallica, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Later that year the band was devoted to give a series of presentations at various venues in Tegucigalpa. During 1991 and 1992 the band went to work and unreleased tracks which were recorded 3 songs demos that sounded in the now defunct Stereo Amistad, among those issues was the song of Green Men .
In 1992 and 1993 concerts were Megametal 92 and 93 concerts that the group organized, participated and which included only they played music bands unpublished. Moreover, in the year 1993 recorded the songs "White Cross" and "The Chosen", which sounded on several radio stations in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, standing at the top. These years were very productive for the national rock, and music that Honduran artists in rock stations sounded much for many youth.
For 1999, the group decided to call only Delirium, as a tribute to those who have supported us over the years, as the fan of the band where we looked at the concerts and we just called Delirium. "Xibalba" was the name of the second album, the name comes from the ancient legends of the Quiche Maya (Popul Vuh), which means ghost, apparition, demon or underground region inhabited by the enemies of man. Delirium's proposal in this record becomes the constant struggle we have to fight humans with our own inner demons. Hell we face daily such as violence, envy, fear and others, which we must face and overcome, the constant struggle between good and evil. This material was produced entirely in Honduras and consider it a handmade work since the group was involved, both in production, recording, editing, reproduction, printing, packaging and distribution in music stores. This album includes the songs "The Lords of Xibalba" which was included in the film Souls of Midnight , "Thorns" which talks about the kind of people who just takes the world by trying to trample others and speaking ill of others.
Currently the band is working on pre-production of the songs that were recorded in the next studio album which is thought to record in coming months. We are very happy with the new material the band and we want our best work to the date. We already have over 18 ideas, but we are working on the topics to be included on the disk because there's enough material. We will keep abreast of news about the band, where they give us a few demo recorded in rehearsal to listen as comes the material.

Virginia Clemm (El Salvador)

The band was created in September 2007 with members of Enrico Palazzo and CRISIS, a meeting at a gas station was enough to make the connection becomes evident from the first trial, with musical tastes in common, they decide to unite to create something new , heavier and powerful and yet melodic. John, Gary, Salvador and Oscar began testing with a single purpose: not to touch any cover. The band is focused primarily on production of original songs since that's what the public believes it deserves: listen to what the band has to offer as their own, not comocopia their influences. His first creation is vision, and thus continue with others to achieve what you want by joining the musical influences and ideas of each. The lineup held until in December 2007, when Javier, formerly of Catharsis, joined the band as bassist. After auditioning several bassists, finally found the right one and start the concerts of Virginia Clemm. Despite his young age, the band traveled to Guatemala in January 2008 for the first time, and already has a quality demo recording. Virginia Clemm is a band with a great musical vision and expectation, since it has as goal to excel within the national scene and spread to Latin America, covering all types of audiences, as it has a fixed line of thought, but everything otherwise. The band will continue to live for long, and is waiting for new projects and new proposals for new music.

Toys In The Forest (France)

Formed in 2005, Toys in the Forest is at the crossroad of blues and Rock and roll , mixed with some heavy metal influences. ” The band was formed to perform live, we are a live act and many venues book us because we do the show, the rock n roll show” says Max. (lead vocals and guitar).

The songs are all about life, parties, sex and rock n roll, but we also explore a dark side with slow tempos and heavy riffs. We have a few songs about life after death such as “Pain and Fear” or“sympathy for a dead man”.

We love rock n roll music, we have have always been big fans of bands like iron maiden , Thin Lizzy or Motorhead. After a few changes in the line up, the band has spent the last two years on the road to promote their second EP “Sex , Toys and Rock n roll”, playing in bars, lesbian clubs or rock festivals during their Hypnotic tour .

The band is all about rock n roll, we can play almost anywhere as long as we can plug in ! Toys in the Forest are back in the studios to write and record their third opus due in january 2010. In the meantime, they are still promoting their rock n roll on Tvs, radios and Live gigs !!
